Treehouse Hotel, London

The Nest

The Treehouse Hotel, London visit date 13th April 2023

This unique and fun hotel opened its doors in November 2019 and, unfortunately like the rest of the world, then promptly closed them again.  Delayed but certainly not disappointing!

Located on Langham Place, the hotel is centrally placed which makes it ideal for both leisure and business.  You enter obviously on the ground floor, straight into the hotel’s very sweet, compact coffee shop and wine bar, the Backyard, and are greeted by concierge staff.

The idea from the get-go is that you enter via the Backyard to climb up into the Treehouse, so the non-conventional greeting is designed to set the scene immediately.

London view

Typical Treehouse View

Lifts take you to the hotel’s reception desk on the 15th floor and some amazing views over London.  This is where you enter the canopy of the Treehouse, and you’ll find the desk decorated with jars of sweets for display to keep the nostalgia trip ongoing.

The hotel has a total of 95 bedrooms including 12 suites, I’ll just throw that in for now.

To the left of the reception desk, you’ll find Madera.  An open plan, mainly Mexican themed food offering with a central bar and, to the rear, a chef’s open kitchen.

Madera is the hotel’s restaurant but can be booked either non-exclusively for smaller groups in the Back Room (80 seated or 130 standing) or exclusively for larger groups of up to 200.

The Back Room is separated from the main restaurant using floor to ceiling partition doors/screening.  The room is not sound proofed which does allow for the ambience of the main restaurant to trickle through to this private function space.

Madera Back Room

Madera Back Room

The Back Room consists of snug banquettes on the slightly raised upper level and main level seating.  It can be used for meetings as well as private lunch or evening dining.

The positioning of the partition wall also allows for access to one of the shorter sides of the main chefs open kitchen and bar.

Maximum capacity is 130 seated, 200 standing.

For larger groups taking the whole of Madera there is a maximum capacity of x 200 but the hotel can offer various sets up depending on the actual size of your group, whether that’s pre-dinner drinks to one side of the bar and dining the other, etc.

The hotel has two additional function rooms on this level which can be used for meeting or private dining.  These are the Birch (maximum x 10 boardroom) and the Oak (maximum x 12 boardroom).

There is no external access or balconies on this level.  For that you need to go one floor higher, up to the 16th floor to the Nest which has its own lift.

Entrance to the Nest

Entrance to the Nest

You enter the Nest through a twig canopy walk way and into an amazing space with amazing views.

The views stretch from Battersea Power Station to Westminster and the City, they are seriously breath-taking.

The feel of the Nest by daytime is relaxed, informal with soft furnishings of mixed colours, foliage, and access to the wrap around outdoor terrace.

Maximum number of guests during winter and the colder months is x 100 standing or 48 seated, with access to the terrace in the summer and warmer months this number can increase to x 200.

The terrace comes with outdoor furniture to one side with patio heaters and awnings and bar stools to the other side (usually this side is reserved as the smoking area if needed).  The hotel provides blankets too.

The hotel has one further surprise, it has its own pizza restaurant, Pizziera Mezza and this can also be taken for private, exclusive use, seating up to 70/80 with one half for pre-dinner drinks the other for seated dining, 130 seated total and 200 reception style.  This is a stand-alone restaurant adjacent to the hotel with a separate entrance.

Overall to label this hotel as fun would be wrong, but right, it is a fun hotel but it’s also classy, sophisticated with a bit of a twist.

Uniquely every item on the menu in Madera starts off life as a vegan dish which is then built on and added to so the restaurant can cater for all requirements, just a part of the hotel’s very strongly orientated sustainability values.

And let’s not forget that the hotel even has its own unique scent which I believe you’ll fall in love with and shortly, may be able to buy and take home yourself to your own treehouse.

The same hotel chain are to be opening One Mayfair this summer and there are plans to open additional Treehouse Hotels in amazing locations such as Miami soon too.
