The Grove, Watford

The Grove

It was so lovely to be back at the Grove again after what feels like such a long time. This beautiful hotel, set in 300 acres of grounds, has a total of x 215 bedrooms with 28 flexible meeting spaces.

From the Amber Suite holding a maximum of 450 theatre style, the lovely new acoustic, oval, glass constructed Cedar Suite which accommodates a maximum of 84 cabaret style to smaller meeting and boardrooms.

All rooms have natural daylight, many with views over the hotel’s beautiful grounds.

Meeting rooms are split between the Mansion House and the West Wing, mixing both modern, quirky contemporary spaces in the latter with elegant surroundings, luxurious lounges, and traditional Mansion House meeting spaces in the former.

There are plenty of dining options from groups in the Stables to Madhu’s pop up restaurant (formerly Colette’s), dinner in the Potting Shed in the Walled Garden, afternoon tea in the lounges to the newly extended Glasshouse Restaurant and Bar.

The hotel has also recently extended their Glasshouse Restaurant into a conservatory area too for added covers.

For activities the hotel can offer Segway rides, laser clays, archery and hawking walk.  There is the 18 hole golf course (host to the British Masters in 2016) and amazing spa with its black mosaic tiled swimming pool, treatment rooms, sauna, steam rooms and fitness studio.

The hotel is large, given the number of bedrooms and meeting rooms it’s bound to be but somehow it doesn’t feel overly large and there’s something to spot that you haven’t seen before around most corners.  From the stairwell that pays homage to the owners daughter’s love of giraffes to the water features in the hotel’s grounds and the largest fire pit I’ve seen in an hotel just beyond the Glasshouse Restaurant and Bar.
