The Post Barn, Newbury

The Post Barn Newbury
New Venue Alert!!!!!

Welcome to  The Post Barn, Newbury.

The Post is a new, sort of stand-alone, non-residential, barn-style venue ideal for private corporate dinners, meetings, team lunches, team BBQ’s, conferences, and training.  I say stand-alone and I’ll explain why I’m hesitant in saying that it’s completely stand-alone in a moment.

The Post is located at the top of the main Donnington Valley Golf Club driveway on the right-hand side.  It has its own gravel car park at the front of the building, which is a brand-new, bespoke, purpose-built event space.

As you enter The Post you walk into a foyer area complete with open fireplace, a fully integrated bar, access to cloakroom and toilet facilities, and access to the mezzanine level (more on that in a moment).  Behind the fireplace with access to either side is the main function space which can hold a maximum of x 140 on rounds.

The main event space is double heighted, wood, barn-style loveliness.

Beautifully, naturally lit with full length doors and windows to one side and a stunning full height window at the far end.

ALL windows and doors open giving amazing access to the terrace on one side and a terrace with the beautiful backdrop of Snelsmore House to the far end.

In addition to The Post the owners are planning an outside kitchen to the front of the clubhouse which will also service The Post so more exciting options to follow in terms of catering options and outdoor events with indoor space for this lovely venue.

So, back to the beginning.  Building started towards the end of 2019 on, what was originally the putting green for Donnington Valley Hotel’s golf course.  This was situated in front of the golf club’s Grade II listed, Victorian Clubhouse, Snelsmore House (which by the way also has a couple of small meeting rooms).

The build slowed during the various lockdowns of the past two years, but the wait has been worth it.

The venue saw some events being held last summer but is about to come into its own in 2022 with its official website being launched today (31st January 2022, click here for the venue’s official site and more images :The Post Barn).

So, we have the foyer with its bar and fireplace, the amazing main event space with its views and doors and windows fully opening up to the beautiful Berkshire countryside and terrace space and you also have the Mezzanine level (accessed off the foyer via a staircase).

The Mezzanine level will have so many uses for so many event organisers.

An ideal spot for an after party party with a touch of privacy and a more snug feel.  A balcony area overlooking the main event space could host the DJ for the night from a vantage point and so not detracting from the dance space below.  An office for a corporate event, a place to hide and store awards and goodie bags, a place to prepare and plan for a gala dinner, a private space for entertainment to prepare before a reveal, the list goes on.

In terms of being a stand-alone venue, well The Post is stand-alone but is sat in the heart of Donnington Valley Golf course which lends itself to a corporate event with a golf-based activity with either the meeting, lunch or golf taking centre stage or all elements being equally as appealing and as much of a draw as the other.

Donnington Valley Golf Course is also part of Donnington Valley Hotel which in turn offers accommodation, meeting rooms, restaurants (including a stretch tent covered terrace with patio heaters and fur blankets), swimming pool and spa treatments.Whilst it is possible to link The Post and the hotel together to offer a residential solution only daytime walking is possible between the two via the golf course, the hotel, however, can provide mini-buses or taxi transfers between the two which are minutes apart.
